Very sparkly dress with cape

Spread the love

This was such a great project… on so many levels. We LOVED the bride and her sparkly ideas, the stunning venue, and the talented photographer.

The Dress

Sophie had a grand vision of an effortless dress but with lots of sparkle. She also wanted some cape detail. But that was not something we had done previously. How we constructed the bodice and the cape-style overlay was new. Because in construction terms, it was both sleeves and cape in one. We LOVE how it all turned out.

We sampled several lovely sparkly fabrics, but this one was the best. A bra was stitched into the boned bodice. We wanted a sheer look to the dress and not that solid look of the ivory bodice under the sparkly fabric. This took a bit of testing and sampling, but we got it right quickly.

We opted for a deep v-neckline with soft folds over the bust and up to the shoulder. To get a bit more sparkle in, we had beautiful crystal buttons running down the back of the dress.

The full-circle skirt on this bespoke dress bustles up for dancing at night. This is a great addition to any dress as it makes it more versatile.

The Wedding

Sophie is great with colour. Her colour vision for the wedding was beautiful. She went for orange bridesmaid’s dresses with the kilt in the lovely Kilgour muted tartan and then the gorgeous soft late summer flowers Dhalia, Chrysanthemum, and eucalyptus greenery.

The weather was the best! With the Kinkell byre on the waterfront, the guests had the best day, enjoying the views and the space indoors and out. Everyone was on the dance floor later.

Sophie’s wedding photographer is Goodluck Wolf Photographer. Flower arrangements were from Posie and Pots, wedding hair by Meigan Alessandra Bridal and make-up by Helen McNeill. I am so pleased with how it all came together.
