Mum and Daughter Wedding Outfits are something we don’t have the pleasure of doing very often. When Susan came to us to have her Mother of the Bride outfit created we were surprised when her lovely daughter Emma wanted a special something created.
Mother of the Bride Outfit
Susan opted for a dress for her daughters big day. She went for a beautiful deep teal satin dress, with a high-low hemline that went from short-to-long at the back, like a mini train. We lined the entire skirt with the tartan which could be seen from the front. The high-low hemline is such a complimentary cut and was perfect for this.
The cuffs of the sleeves and the belt were made in a wine and teal pure silk tartan. They added a subtle detail that matched perfectly with the whole dress.
She paired this dress with a matching hairpiece that ties the whole look together.
The Bride
When Emma came to us, she already had her dress. She just wanted something extra to compliment it. We were overjoyed that she came to us for this special addition to her dress. We created an undershirt (one of the best inventions in bridal fashion). This would sit underneath her dress with an elastic under the bust to secure. Giving the illusion of it being part of the dress. We created a lace bolero style top with long sleeves. This was made in chantilly lace, hand worked on to the mesh undershirt for a seamless look. There was a blue ribbon tie in the back to secure.
Undershirts are a perfect addition to any dress as they are very easily removable (or added) for the evening. It can transform any look and allow you to change the style quickly. Also great for indecisive brides as it can be removed and added as you see fit. You could even repurpose for anniversaries and wear again if you really want to.
Mum and Daughter Wedding Outfits
It is such a special experience when mums and their daughters come in together to have pieces made. Sometimes we’ve made a mothers outfit for her other children’s wedding and then created both mother and daughter looks for the next wedding.
