Ok, Grooms might contest this! But I think Mother of the Bride and then Mother of the Grooms are the 2nd in command at weddings.
We love working with the mums. We feel we can really work with them and get them something very special which suits the type of wedding planned, but yet something that is not that “standard” mother of the bride outfit we have seen a million times.
So many mums recently…but here is a little selection, we are very excited to share with you.
First up, this wedding where we proudly made both the wedding dress and mother of the bride outfit. The Mum had a lovely silk slip dress with a silk satin chiffon coat over. Then a hat to match from Sally Ann Provan. Photography by CademuirPhotography.
Also in the autumn, we made Adelaide’s beautiful wedding dress with vintage details and we made this lovely silk georgette dress, the mum wore her own lovely embroidered silk jacket with the dress. Photograph by The Curries. Flowers by Adelaide’s Secret Garden.
Mother of the groom in stunning bubble gum pink dress made in sand washed silk crepe, with silk organza details. Hat from Sally Ann Provan and photography from ebm photography.
One of our favorite recent weddings was this one, we made outfits for 3 people, Both the bride, The Mother of the Bride and the Mother of the Groom. The hat is by Alex Muir and the photography is by Chris Parkinson, Beneath The Pines.Â
Another one where we made both the wedding dress and the Mother of Bride outfit was this lovely one. The mother had a dark grey long coat with victorian riding coat details. She had beaded lace details on the coat. She chose cigarette leg silk trousers and a black top with it.
This lady chose her own silk tartan and a striking embroidered tulle lace with sequins. In the tartan, we made a fitted strapless dress, and then a dress in the lace created a soft floaty overlay with floating hem and velvet ribbon detail.
Sandra wanted something both simple and striking! she got just that. We made her a fitted marocain silk dress with a sloping hem, a flare on the sleeves and covered buttons and loops down the back of the dress. Then a bespoke hat from Alex Muir.
Gill’s favorite colour is purple! she wanted a teal outfit, but obviously, the coat had purple lining!
Another coat and dress combination was this one for Sally. She had a silk satin chiffon floaty dress with a lace jacket. Then she had a long coat in silk crepe with silk satin collar and cuff and frock details. Photo credit to Scott Parker Photography.
A favorite combination is a silk and lace, so many options, here you see a few.

Loved making this Rich Royal Blue wool crepe dress with a wide a-symmetric belt detail for a winter wedding. I felt the colour was just “bang on” for this Mum! This wedding was at the wonderful New Hall Estate
Not so often mums go for prints, I LOVE how this turned out, and it was for a wedding in Prestonfield House, so it just fitted with the opulent interior.
Here is another print dress with a silk jacket.
We love Linton tweeds. We made 2 outfits with the novelty tweeds, paired with a lovely silk – lace dress combination.
2018 also let us work with 1 Grandmother of the bride and 1 Grandmother of the groom. One went for a lovely brocade dress and a wool crepe coat with silk details.
The other Grandmother went for a heavy wool crepe suit with Chanel inspired silk details and with that, she had a Linton Tweed coat over. Alex Muir made the hat for this outfit.
As you can see, we have been working with so many different colours. Clear as well as dusky, brights and pastels. The teal colour i think has been the most popular this year. One of my personal favorites. Photo by Claire Fleck Photography
