French – Irish wedding
Uniting families, people, and countries, how beautiful! For us, it started with a lovely request from Marion. She wanted a soft wedding dress for Wedding in Chalet de la Serra, Lamoura, France. She wanted it soft, romantic, not too hot to wear.
Easy to wear is the most important requirement for this wedding dress.
Marion selected some stunning silks for her bespoke wedding dress. For lightness, she picked a silk satin chiffon, and for texture, she chose a lovely corded lace. We cut the lace by hand and attached on the dress. The lace decorated the fine cap sleeves, and the waist and the overlay on the skirt to emphasize the wrap effect of the dress. She has buttons and loops at the back.
Guests were going to travel from lots of places for this wedding in France, and the couple had done put lots of planning into the planning of the day of the wedding. The venue is amazing. Guests could stay on-site, and lots of access to activities in the lovely area.
Marion took great care to involve traditions from Ireland and Scotland to her French wedding. She organised soft check cashmere stoles for the bridesmaids to wear in the evening.
It was a real pleasure making this dress for Marion, and we enjoyed the fittings with her.
We love weddings like this, 2 cultures and 2 families and 2 wedding traditions come into one big happy event. It’s often easy to just go for tradition with weddings, but when you are 2 cultures it makes you review all traditions and decide which you would like to use, I love that. I think all weddings should be like that, think about what has value to you and only have that at your wedding.
