For Tanya’s wedding we created this beautiful Boho style wedding dress. I was so happy when Tanya got in touch and ask us to make her wedding dress. I have known this wonderful young woman for many years, since she was a wee girl. She is the niece of my best friend.
Tanya has even previously worked here at Freja Designer Dressmaking. She worked here a couple of hours after school years ago.
She is so cool and I am so proud of the person she has grown into.
The Wedding Dress
I was not surprised when she came to us with her own ideas for how she wanted her wedding dress to look. For Tanya’s Boho style wedding dress we went for a pale champagne coloured satin as the base of the dress. The main fabric was a beautiful heavy lace which was used over the satin. The lace had stunning deep scalloped edgings which really created this Boho look.
The dress had a fishtail silhouette. It has a fitted shape until just above the knee. Then a full circle skirt was attached from the knee down. This created the beautiful flared fishtail shape and it also had a very long train. We also added a deep split on the front which has scalloped lace detailing along it. The back of the dress has fab cut outs and the sleeves had really big long flared trumpets. The large flared sleeves looks so nice with the scalloped deep scalloped edging from the lace.
The dress was designed and made for Tanya to wear with big boots. It was no surprise when they chose to get married in the remote hills on Skye with a small private ceremony. The couple love the outdoors and travel a lot in their converted van and have taken incredible road trips to USA too.
The photographs from the day are amazing. I have also seen amazing drone footage from some of their previous visits to the area.
Thank you again Tanya, for coming back to see us to have your wedding dress made, it was a real honour.
Also thank you to Lynne Kennedy Photography for the beautiful photographs.
