Laura & Greig’s Wedding in the Glasshouse Hotel, Edinburgh

When Laura was planning her wedding she had ideas of quite a contemporary wedding. She had booked the The Glasshouse Hotel Edinburgh for the ceremony and reception and it’s a lovely modern Wedding Venue just at the foot of Carlton Hill. Laura went for a long length bodice, with a lace overlay, it had a boned bodice with internal lace up and lots of structure and boning. She had the lace overlay coming up over the bodice and sitting directly on her skin on a halter neck neckline. The skirt was many layers of tulle in different weights and levels…

Drumtochty Castle and Vintage Bridesmaids Dresses

Keri-Ann had a whole folder with images of Vintage details she would like to include in her wedding preparations. It was much fun as it was apparent that both Keri-Ann and her 2 bridesmaids had given a lot of thought to what they wanted to wear on the day, and the whole theme of the wedding was to be enhanced with the bridesmaids dresses. I really really like the final result. the bridesmaids dresses were made in a duchesse satin overlayed with a chiffon changeant, the dresses had a pearl detail on the waist. The girls had silk douppion…

Susi & Paul’s Wedding at The Hub, Edinburgh

Susi came to see us last year, she had decided to have her dress made for different reasons, one being she is around 5 foot tall and she had tried a lot of dresses on which absolutely drowned her and she couldn’t get a feel for how the real dress would be when it had a whole foot cut off.  But she also wanted a dress which was truly hers and that she had been much more part of the process of making it. Susi tells me she now feels her dress has its own story with all the conversations…

Sheer wedding dress bodice, with thai silk skirt

Monica, came to see us about her wedding dress when we were in the old shop,.. then we moved.. and then suddenly Monica moved to the Far East, we got her dress nearly ready in the couple of weeks we had on our hands before she was moving, and then left the rest of the work till the week before the wedding, when she would be back in the UK. Monica had great ideas about a “lingerie” style wedding dress, no bling.. just exclusive fabrics, and fine details in mix of fabrics and textures. The skirt was made in thai…

Emma, going for gold!

Emma had plans for her wedding to be a small intimate affair, only the closest people from her friends and family. The wedding was at the Registry office on the Royal Mile, a gorgeous meal at Angels with Bagpipes, and at night time.. lots and lots of dancing. Emma had decided for a gold detail short dress. She originally brought in her favorite “party-dress” and we looked at things she liked about that, and changed some details and that was the starting point for Emma’s Wedding dress. We made her dress in a silk douppion, the skirt is a true…

Hopetoun House, Summer, Champagne and Happyness!

Lauren and Rob got married at the beautiful Victorian venue of Hopetoun house near Queensferry, on a glorious sunny day back in May. Lauren had opted for an elegant full-length silk duchess satin gown in a dark ivory, with a pretty chantilly lace overlay in a lighter shade of ivory. This created a slight vintage and three dimensional feel to her outfit, which also had elbow length lace sleeves, an internal corset, button fastenings down the back and a long flowing train. The Freja team also made her two bridesmaids dresses from a champagne coloured orissa silk and with a…

Black & White Wedding at Dundas Castle

Amy came to us after having tried on a hundreds of dresses in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London, she had seen a few she liked, but still not found the right one. We met with Amy and discussed what we could do for her. Amy settled for a dress with internal corset and Chinese silk organza bias strips all around the dress, in total was over 200 meters of silk organza strips. The strips swirled round and round and made into big flowers on her skirt. Amy wore a small veil on a simple pearl comb. For night-time Amy had a…

Debbie’s Cowl-neck wedding dress at Dundas Castle

Debbie came into Freja with a few simple wedding dress ideas, and ended up going for something a bit more extravagant with a cowl-neck, as her ideas grew and grew!   She finally opted for a beautiful silk satin dress with a train, front and back cowl neck and crystal embellishment on her waist, a very similar style to one we had created for the Drumlanrig shoot! She looked absolutely stunning, complemented by her accessories from Corrine Smith Design, flowers from Planet Flowers, make-up by Lucy Gourlay and hair done by Keith Marshall. Debbie was so lovely to work with!…

Pink Wedding Dress for Winton House

Kristy was such good fun to work with… she had been recommended to come and see us from Blue Sky Photography. Kirsty has a degree in costume design, and although she does not work today with her costume degree, it is clear to see she has a lot of artistic flair and design skills she use in her work.   Kirsty had given a lot of thought to her dress, she brought in an amazing drawing and had a little scrap book with details and period features and things she wanted involved in her dress…. We LOVED it all…

Fashion Show at the Wedding Fayre Edinburgh Botanics

On Sunday the 23rd of September we had the great honour of being invited to the Wedding Fayre at the Edinburgh Royal Botanic Gardens. We had to entertain the crowds with a fashion show. Well what better way of doing it than asking a couple of our brides from this year to wear their dresses again? They all jumped at the opportunity, even when they were told to be in Hair and Make-up by 8 am Sunday morning.   We had 4 brides there and on top of that Veronica our house model helped us out, she went in…
