Mother of the bride,,, 2nd in command!

We love making mother of the bride and mother and of the groom outfits. In fact we probably do as many as we do wedding dresses. We like to experiment with colours and textures to create a lovely look that goes with the rest of the wedding plans. The choice is endless, we have a lot of stunning outfits on the go at the moment, but here are some we recently made. Julia has had a few outfits made by us, here she is guest at a wedding and she wears a dress made in metallic lace in Victorian Lilac, backed…

Bridesmaids and Mother of Bride for Charlotte’s Autumn Wedding

Charlotte’s bridesmaids had a chiffon dresses, with ruching to the side to mirror Charlotte’s dress, Libby’s dress had V-neck and the younger bridesmaid, Ana had a boat neckline. Both dresses were soft dresses, without boning and only light structure.   Charlotte’s Mother wore a silk Douppion Embroidered jacket, georgette skirt panelled flip skirt, and Gorgeous Hat from Alex Muir.   She kept all her accessories dark navy. Liz had a lighter top in satin devoree and in the same colour scheme to change into at night.   All the ladies had hair done by Charlie Miller and LG Make-up the Flowers…

Charlotte’s dress for her autumn wedding

This is one of our favourite weddings of 2011 and there have been a lot to chose from. I first met Charlotte and her Mother Liz at the Hopetoun House wedding fair. They then came to see me to discuss Charlotte’s dress for her autumn wedding, and we had a great exchange of ideas. Charlotte had some lovely things to work with. First the wedding itself was to be at Fettes College where she works. We had a great laugh. To get the length of the train right for when Charlotte was standing at the alter, she went to the chapel and held a piece of…

Danielle and Scott’s Black and White Wedding

Danni, came to me with her idea of the Black and white theme, via Wedding organiser Joann Scott. Her wedding was in September, so we still wanted to keep a fairly light feel to the dresses. Danni chose black cationic Chiffon and a soft satin belt for her bridesmaids. The dresses had a deep V-neck, and were soft without boing or structure. Danni had 4 gorgeous bridesmaids, and the style colour suited them all. They were really lovly girls to work with and we enjoyed the banter during the fittings. Their hair and make up and the day was done…

Sarah’s Silk Satin Chiffon Wedding Dress

We don’t do many Glasgow weddings. So to get asked to do a wedding dress for a wedding in Glasgow University Chapel Glasgow University Chapel with Reception at One Devonshire Gardens after, felt like the cream of the milk. Sarah had many ideas about her dress when she first came to see me. I enjoyed going through the process with her, as she had so many ideas to contribute and as a Teacher always had done all her home work and research in advance of our meetings. She went for very fitted boned corset and circle skirt in Silk Taffeta with soft…

Soft Lace, Silk Crepe and the stunning Signet Library

When Rebecca came to see me she had allready been round a few wedding dress shops, and thougth what she wanted wasn’t exactly there for her to buy. We talked about her wedding and it was supposed to be a small affair at the Signet Library with stunning food from Heritage Portfolio. The shape she would like to replicate from an evening dress, she had worn a before, and she loved the shape of, was the shape we created on her. The dress she liked was a soft dress without boning and structure. Rebecca couldn’t get the dress simple enough. But…

RIP wonderful, talented Lesage

It was such sad news to recieve this week that Francois Lesage had passed away. Francois Lesage ran the very famous embroidery house in Paris, which has provided embroidery for decades for the most exclusive Couture houses such as  Dior, Givenchy, Balenciaga and Christian Lacroix. Lesage ran his workshop till his death and had nearly 50 embrioderers working there. Jobs could require up to  500 hours of work,  like the famous Jean Paul Gaultier’s evening dress from 1998 collection, Leopard Evening dress in taffeta and embroidery required close to 500 hours in embroidery alone. Amazing and stunning work.   Lesage was in 2002 bought…

Lynne’s 3 lush Bridesmaids

Lynne came to us as she had been to a wedding last year, where we had made the Wedding dress. She was full of ideas of having 3 bridesmaids dresses, with 3 different necklines, but a common theeme. We came up with some ideas, and Lynne settled for the chiffon Changeant material in this gorgeous shade. Changeant means that it has been wowen with 2 different colours of thread one colour for warp and one for weft. this gives it a much more lively look, and in particular the sheer materials becomes much more vibrant in this way. We had…

Lots and Lots of folds in purple and a little bit of green

Robyn wanted colour, folds and lots of fabrics and lots of drama for her wedding dress. And that’s what she got! We used Pure Douppion silk from James Hare Silks, which is a company we buy lots and lots of silk from, we are proud to say they conscientiously source their materials in Asia. The colour is really unusual as it is purple shot with green. We had lots and lots of folds in purple netting and some very lightweight bremsilk lining in purple. The dress was constructed with a “plain’ish” skirt, with a big netting underskirt with a hoop,…

Steve and Abi’s gorgeous September Wedding

Abi and her mum came to us in the beginning of the year and asked about bridesmaids dresses for her gorgeous september wedding, we knew straight away this would be an amazing wedding with such contemporary and sophisticated style. They decided for 2 styles of dresses in the same theme, so skirt and belt detail was the same on all 4 dresses, and then 2 different necklines, 2 v-neck dresses and 2 strapless. The dresses have light boning and zip at the back and are fully lined. The fabric was a soft drapey satin in coffee colour and it had…
