That gorgeous crepe wedding dress
Hilary was the loveliest bride to deal with. She came to me with a rough sketch of the wedding dress she had made herself. She had not tried any dresses on and didn’t really fancy going through all that.
We went through a lot of details about the design, the fastening and the cut and the details. She would really like a very minimalist outfit. I love minimalist so much. But the challenge is to get enough detail that it looks interesting and special, I felt we absolutely managed to do that on Hilary’s dress.
Hilary chose a lovely heavy crepe fabric and then a lovely silk satin for details. The gorgeous crepe wedding dress has straps and neckband made in silk satin. On the jacket, we made lovely edgings of the satin.
And then we did buttons, loads of them! All the way down the long train and on the cuffs of the jacket as well.
We love the final result. Everything looks beautiful, with her sharp stylish haircut and the softness of the gorgeous flowers.
Mother of the bride dress
It was a real joy to be asked to do the mother of bride outfit too. We made a very gorgeous dress in a light teal colour silk crepe with a deep wide satin collar. The fabric was so exquisite and just felt good all day. The hat was from Elegance in Perth.
This wedding was another of those which has been scheduled a few times and covid restrictions came in the way. It was such a joy that it finally went ahead in the gorgeous Mansfield Traquair. The flowers were done by Stockbridge flower Company.
