Luxurious Duchesse Wedding Dress

Spread the love

I know some of you went pretty crazy when you saw the photos of this luxurious duchesse silk wedding dress from the final fitting.

What is not to love? Luxurious silk duchesse satin, hand worked lace embellishment, buttons on the back,  ruching details, off the shoulder sleeves, and POCKETS! And a stunning bride.

We LOVED making it, and really enjoyed working with this bride.

The dress itself has a structured boned bodice. This created a “shell like” base of a dress. We then draped the beautiful pure silk duchess satin on to that shell. Then on the front bodice we created folds and made the fake wrap details.

The dress was a full circle. So about 8 meters of hand sewn hem. The full circle skirt usually do not have seams at the sides, but we made it in this dress, so she could have the pockets.

We made the dropped sleeves in silk organza, we had made them first in silk chiffon, however they were too soft and didn’t give the structure we wanted. We changed to silk organza, which is the same weight silk, but silk organza is stiffer. It worked so well for adding the lace motifs on top. All the lace has been cut out and attached by hand.

We have not worked on a wedding dress in this very exquisite and luxurious silk duchesse satin for a while. Some people have aversion to shiny fabrics, but I think this is an example of just how beautiful and special this can look.

The dress has bustles under the skirt, so it could be bustled up for the dancing at night.

The wedding was in May, and all the may blossom was out in full for the stunning photographs.

It was a real honour that this bride had us recommended from different people we have worked with over the years and really enjoyed staying in touch with.

Thank you so much to Louise Adby Photography for taking the lovely shots from the day.
