Beginners Swing Course
Welcome to our 3-Day beginners sewing course! We are so happy you are here.
We already had our sewing course but realised that some people had no clue where to start. This is a deep dive into sewing essentials for beginners keen to learn and expand their skills. This will give you skills to get started.
Day 1 (16th September 2024) – You will explore all the tools necessary to start your sewing journey, and how to use them. You will learn about which fabrics to start with to start constructing garments.
Day 2 (17th of September 2024) – You will be shown how to take exact measurements and apply them to patterns to get your perfect fit. You will be introduced to personal styling and how to dress for your body type.
Day 3 (18th of September 2024) – You will be shown how to use a sewing machine and get the most out of it. There will be an opportunity for a Q+A at the end.
Each day will be via a Zoom call at 7pm and you will be sent the meeting link to join! If you miss out, the meetings will be recorded so you can watch them later.
Along with this there will be a practical project you can take part in if you wish.
Continuing on our monthly online course, your £10 will be redeemable against the fee for the first month. (£18 instead of £28)
We are making a pyjama, and this can be made for you and also make a lovely gift.
Sewing and dressmaking
We have now been running our popular Sewing and Dressmaking course for over a year, and we would love for you to join us. We had feedback to make a beginners sewing course to help you get stared. For our monthly course the format is:
Each month you get a pattern posted around the 15th of the month for this month’s garment.
Then there is a video call where we discuss the fabrics and take any questions on the current garment, and any other garments the members are working on.
There is a free Facebook community where the members post the garments they make and more so post questions about fabrics, shops and technical difficulties they run into along the way
Each month you also get instructions and materials for a small craft project. You can make this with your kids or grandkids, You can also make it just for yourself if you are looking for a quick crafting fix. The bonus project will keep you in the loop and keep you practising your skills. Even if you have a busy month and struggle to complete a full garment.
There is no obligation to complete any number of garments and the attending of any calls is just an offer to help you and we welcome you if you can make it.
Here are a few of the things we have made on the course so far. The pinafore dress and the travel roll were both popular, as well as the wrap blouse.
Our next project is the Pyjama, which will run over 2 months. There are different options of difficulty.
We also offer a free facebook group where we share tips for sewing. We would love for you to join. you can join on this linkÂ
