Romantic vintage-inspired dress
Working with Stacey is a delight. She is so in tune with amazing ideas and she works really hard to achieve her vision across every single detail of her wedding.
She has a beautiful Scottish Highland Wedding in Glen Clova.
That dress
Before our first meeting we had had exchanges of ideas and she really liked soft vintage-inspired ideas. I was so honoured she came all the way from Aberdeenshire to meet with me and talk over her ideas. We picked a beautiful fine polka dot tulle and a warm ivory satin to go with it.
While working on the dress we have been in constant contact and we have been sending pictures back and forth to Stacey.
We made the “base” of the dress with a boned bodice with a sweetheart neckline. Once that is constructed we place this on a dressmaker’s dummy. We then by hand drape the polka-dotted tulle over that, place each fold by hand and secure each fold by hand. Stacey then came down to see how far we were and tried it on again. At this stage, we also looked at a lot of different styles of lace and also different placements of the lace.
Stacey went for a gorgeous ivory three-dimensional lace with a tiny bit of pink petals. It just looked amazing and soft on the dress.
We finished the dress with ribbons and bows on the back and on the sleeves.
We were delighted to also be asked to make Stacey’s mum’s dress. She went for a beautiful print in purples, greens and blues. She sourced an amazing hat and she matched the silk satin collar, belt, cuffs and buttons on the dress.
The day turned out beautifully and all of Stacey’s amazing plans turned out perfectly.
