Royal inspiration wedding dress and vintage details were the inspiration for this beautiful bride.
While on a short trip to Edinburgh with her lovely mum travelling from the South of England they came by my shop and popped in for a chat.
That dress
This gorges bride was full of beautiful and different ideas for a wedding dress. The first was a dress worn by Princess Margaret designed by Christian Dior, she loved the a-symmetric neckline of that dress. Sian had seen it in the Museum of London here is the link.
The bride was set on a pure white dress, and together we looked at different fabrics. The winner was the pure white damask with a rose pattern. We then had pure silk organza for the neckline. We worked on a neckline similar to the Princes Margaret dress looking from the front. But we changed the back a lot by making the “sleeves” knot at the back and creating a lovely flow at the back to sit on top of the train.
We often get asked if we can copy a dress. It would be against copyright laws to copy a dress. It would also be pretty immoral and lastly, I want creative input in anything I make. But I feel totally happy taking a small detail from this historic and iconic dress and re-work that for a new bespoke dress. I really love a request like that. A truly Royal inspiration wedding dress.
Like so many other weddings this wedding was due to go-ahead but had to be rescheduled a few times. Eventually, the wedding was held, but without the grooms family from abroad.
Despite it, all the couples had the most amazing day, and I can’t get over how beautiful the bride looked. The dress has got a real royal feel to it and looks so vintage. The way the bride chose accessories with the deep pearl halo adds to the Royal vintage, don’t you agree?
