Sophisticated City Wedding
This was the vision for Karen’s big day – with a gothic twist that ties in with the setting of Edinburgh’s Old Town. With her design background, she carried the vision out impeccably. It shows so much in all that she planned for her wedding, so stylish and sophisticated.
That dress!
We made Karen’s bespoke dress in pure silk crepe. She had a deep and wide square neckline and squared sleeves which were long and slightly fluted at the wrist. We made a super fitted skirt which flared out at the knees and flowed into a beautiful train. The back had a big sheer bow which trailed behind like a veil. Perfect for the bride who doesn’t want a veil but loves that veil ‘floating in the wind’ wedding photography look! The dress had silk buttons and loops at the back and a belt made in the same silk to give a polished yet pretty finish to the dress.
After delaying this wedding twice, you can now see it was worth the wait! We are over the moon to now see the photographs, the vision came to life, 3rd time lucky.
I knew Karen was going to style her dress with black accessories as it’s her favourite colour. Louboutin shoes and red soles, the black vamp nails, the black centre in the anemone of the bouquet is so Karen.
Karen’s hair was beautifully styled by Marco at Medusa. Shawndelle Scott Mua absolutely managed to nail the make-up for the very polished Gothic look.
The Venue
To me, it all fell into place when I saw the stunning raw elements within the space at the Timberyard with their iconic red warehouse door – the stone, metal, wood and glass interior sets off the sharp and sleek style of the bridal party in their formal yet modern garments. So cool, and such a vision for the styling of the wedding. The venue styling was done by Amy at The Edinburgh Craft Club. Looking after candles and table settings in this incredible space. Katherine at Narcissus expertly arranged the flowers.
