Tartan on a short dress
Buchanan tartan was the simple detail on this short, sophisticated wedding dress.
We loved making this wedding dress. Catriona has been a customer with us for a few years and we have become friends in the process. It was such an honour to be involved in this wedding. I loved getting asked to help them get dressed and send them off on the day.
Catriona wanted a short simple off-the-shoulder wedding dress. The groom is a Buchanan, and we represented his tartan on the simple box pleat detail on the back of the wedding dress.
We made the dress in a lovely zibeline pure silk. The texture is beautiful and rich. It is shiny but in a really subtle exclusive way.
We construct a dress like this with internal boning. Then finish it with buttons and loops at the back.
Lovely hairdos and makeup by a local business, Mark David Salon. Holly and Stef who we have had the pleasure of working with before.
Catriona has such an exquisite taste and chose lovely brightly coloured flowers in big rustic bouquets from Rose Parks. Catriona’s flowers picked up the colouring of the Buchanan tartan.
Catriona’s sister was a bridesmaid on the day. We adore her too and made her brightly coloured wedding dress a couple of years ago, you can see it here.
For Mairi, we made a lovely soft dress in chiffon changeant in a lovely aubergine colour. The style of the collar matches Catriona’s dress and she has lovely floaty sleeves. Mairi, wore a bespoke ear cuff from our range by Rene Walrus
The Ghillie Dhu served as the perfect venue. With a beautiful “aisle” created for the ceremony. The place transformed and offered plenty of space for evening dancing.
