Tartan Wedding outfit
Tartan wedding trouser suit with wedding skirt over illusion neckline with lace? Yes, please to all of it.
What a fun brief Rebecca gave us when she first came in. She wanted to use her husband-to-be family tartan, the muted MacDuff tartan.
We talked, sketched, played around with things, and got to this outfit. It’s a pair of fitted trousers with a side zip and a flat front and back. Then a boned and structured bodice where we cut the tartan on the bias. The chest and shoulders lace attached to the skin-coloured tulle. The tulle creates an illusion neckline. All the lace motifs are cut out and sewn on by hand.
Rebecca also has a thing for bees. We added a couple of secret bees to the lace, a cute and subtle way to involve them as you had to look for them.
The overskirt (with POCKETS!!) sits over the trousers and top for a very cool and feminine flow. We made the overskirt in pure silk. It is so light it just flows and creates this soft floaty look with the heavy tweed.
I love the final look of Rebecca’s wedding outfit. I am sure she will wear it in different constellations in the future. But it was such a wow-factor on the day.
The day on Glenlee
The wedding plans were for the ceremony to take place outside, on the deck. On board, the fantastic venue in Glasgow called “The Tall Ship Glenlee”
The weather was great on the day. All the guests gathered on the deck, and the same amount stood on the shore. Random passers-by stopped to take in this beautiful moment.
All the girls in Rebecca’s life sang her beautifully down the “aisle” of the ship, and she got to marry her Gavin.
The couple had more than their fair share of health issues to deal with in the run-up to the wedding. It made everyone there so determined to make the most of the day and celebrate with no hospital in sight.
Thank you again for letting us be part of such a beautiful and memorable day. All the best wishes for the future.
