Vintage style maternity wedding dress
What an absolute pleasure! To get to work on a wedding like this. Getting to glimpse other cultures and find again we are all the same and share similar values.
Hailey contacted me about a year before her wedding; she told me in detail about all the exciting Jewish traditions they would include in the marriage.
We had many ideas for her dress; Hailey had done a fantastic job of collecting images so I could see what she was looking for; there was not an actual dress, but necklines and fabric sleeve details. It was easy for me to pull things like this together and create a bespoke design from that. Hailey said she wanted a modest wedding dress with period details but not feeling like she was wearing a period dress. I think we achieved this.
She went for a very textured Orissa silk in ivory. Then she went for a lovely vintage-style lace for the neckline, sleeve hem and dress hem. Last she had silk satin bow details on the sleeves and the back of the dress. The dress has buttons and loops at the back and a big bow with sashes. She has loops under the skirt so I can bustle up easily for the reception, leaving her to move around much more manageable.
It made our day when we heard Hailey was expecting and would be very pregnant at the wedding. She looked amazing, kept healthy during the pregnancy, and felt great the whole day.
Once we knew a baby was on the way, we planned, and we were able to make her dress in the few weeks before the wedding so we could make sure her beautiful baby belly could fit in and look amazing on the day. We feel we achieved that.
We couldn’t believe it when we heard the couple couldn’t find the traditional Chuppah for the wedding. The groom just went on and made one! It just looks so romantic and pretty in the photos. There you go, Chuppah made in East Lothian wood. I think it may be a first.
The local company studio sea pink created stunning floral decorations and Hailey’s bouquet.
The wedding took place at Colstoun House; the venue was perfect, with space in and out.
The amazing, wonderful and strange were engaged to take the photos on the day, and we loved the shots. We have worked with them before, quite a while ago, you can see that wedding here.
