Clothes that fit you well should just be a given, right? However, a lot of women struggle to find clothes that fit them comfortably. In our Edinburgh studio, we specialise in creating bespoke women’s tailoring services for this exact reason.

No two women are the same shape and size so it can be difficult to find a suit on the high street that fits well and looks smart. That is why we work with many women to create outfits that are a stylish investment they can return to, time after time.

There are so many options for men’s tailoring across the globe. From shirts and trousers to full suits with waistcoats and blazers. It was always projected as ‘professional attire’. What is tailoring?

A common misconception is that tailoring is the same as altering. We are here to set the record straight. In our mind, a tailored garment is one made to fit you. Whether you go to a ‘tailors’ and they have a range of garments that they will measure you up and tailor to fit. Or like us, where we create a garment from scratch to your exact measurements and specifics.

Our bespoke women’s tailoring is ideal for women who want to project their inner confidence through their wardrobe. We take the design principles of the finest men’s tailoring and adapt them to flatter the female shape. Every stitch is placed to match the contours of your body and our personal consultation service puts you in control from the beginning. We can help your individuality shine through in the workplace while retaining a smart and tailored look.

What garments do you create?

We create anything from Ladies suits and dresses to trousers and shirts. Our Harris tweed Biker jackets are also popular alongside Blazer styles. We have women who come back year after year for items to add to their wardrobe. Sometimes small things like some well-fitting shirts for work. Or larger pieces like a new jacket or full suit.

Our clients know that they can rely on the quality of our tailoring and we have many long-standing customers with whom we have worked for years. For returning customers, we can also offer a discount on suits when we are able to reuse a pattern created for them previously.

Why do you not alter clothes?

As a business we have chosen not to alter clothes made by other retailers. We can guarantee the quality of our own work but not the work of others, so we choose not to take a risk in altering fabrics or items we aren’t confident in. We will, however, alter clothes previously made by us. Lots of our tailoring clients have come back to us through the years to have jackets, dresses etc altered to accommodate with their changing bodies.

What is a capsule wardrobe?

It is a handful of well-fitting garments that can all be matched and worn together in different ways to create hundreds of outfit variations. We believe it’s a small step to eradicating ‘fast fashion’. These will be clothes you LOVE. Clothes that make you feel like you. Effortless fashion that you know will always be a winner. A capsule wardrobe takes the stress out of dressing. You don’t have to struggle to decide what to wear in the morning, just pick a top and a bottom, or a dress and jacket and you’re out the door. Feeling like your best self every day.

I’m going to an event, what do I wear?

At Freja, we’ve made women dresses, two pieces and everything in between. From creating wedding guest attire to graduation dresses. Royal Ascot and ladies day attire. We even created a coat for a client to wear when she saw her dad receive an MBE at Windsor Castle. It is so heart-warming to help women create special pieces of clothing to wear to important events. We take pride in the trust we share with our clients to bring their vision to life.
