We recently made this beautiful Mustard Wool Wedding Dress for a bride and love how it turned out. Magdalena came to us with a vision and already had a fabric in mind. This rarely happens when a bride comes to us and knows exactly which fabric. Magdalena’s partner and soon-to-be wife Marie had a suit made by my friend Chris so naturally they had to match.
The Dress
The mustard wool for the dress was a luxury merino flannel. This unique fabric was from Bateman Ogden. We created a skater-style silhouette with a low back and concealed zip. The front of the dress had a soft scoop neck and the waistline had a separate pleated belt detail in the same mustard wool.
The fabrics consisted of matching mustard wool used in Marie’s suit. We also added a mix of soft-coloured netting under the skirt in a range of colours, Pumpkin, Teal, Orange, and Emerald green.
The skirt is a full circle skirt, adding pockets (every bride’s DREAM) is always a bonus. The skirt is a High-Low style and you can see the rainbow petticoat underneath for an additional pop of colour. The netting is in an array of muted colourful tones all mixed together.
If you have a fabric in mind, we can always try our best to make that happen for you! Sometimes our customers come to us having already sourced or bought a length of fabric to use.
The Wedding
The wedding was held at Comrie Croft Edinburgh
Marie’s suit was made by Chris at Edinburgh Tailoring Company. The waistcoat featured the same mustard wool as Magdalena’s dress.
